Common Car Suspension Issues
No-one wants car trouble, we know that. We are always here for you should you encounter any problems with your car, and we are also here to advise on what you should look out for to help you avoid any issues.
In this blog, we are covering suspension problems. We always advise that if you suspect any problems with your suspension that you bring your car into us as soon as possible so that we can get you back on the road in no time. A car with a worn suspension can affect its stopping distance by up to 20%. Here’s what you should look out for when it comes to poor suspension –
Suspension can cause weak car tyres
Winter weather can play havoc on your car tyres and suspension. There are always potholes in the roads no matter what time of the year, but there does always seem to be more in the winter, don’t you agree? A nasty bump through a particularly large pothole can have a real damaging effect on types and car suspension.
Poor weather such as rain, snow and the grit that is used to clear ice as well as dirt on the roads can alter the resistance on tyres and therefore suspension, so keep an eye out when driving in these conditions. If it looks like any tyres are tilted or out of alignment, it’s possible that your vehicle has a suspension issue.
Are you bumping along down the road more than normal?
The springs within the suspension system are designed to absorb the shock of all the bumps in the road. Without them, you would be bouncing around more than Peter Rabbit in Mr McGregor’s garden! In a sense, these springs help you protect you and help to provide a more comfortable journey.
However, if there is a problem with the springs in the suspension, it’s likely you will notice quite quickly, as you will find yourself being bumped about much more and there may also be increased noise when going over bumps or potholes in the road.
